Let's say you bought a gown at the Carolina Herrera sample sale in October. And suppose it's been crammed in a garment bag ever since. And perhaps this morning, you took it out of the bag and found that it's a mess of wrinkles. But the New Yorkers for Children cocktail hour starts in 9 hours! Do you dare iron? Nyet. (It's Herrera!) Take to a cleaner? Not if you want it by 6 p.m. Digging through one's closet, Chic discovered one Joy Mangano's My Little Steamer that must have been a graduation gift from Grammy. (Do we get a new one every year? And do they ever work?) Anyone who came of age steaming clothes for photo shoots will not accept anything less than the hard-core professional model, but écoutez: This petit guy is the size of a hairdryer, it heats up within seconds, and after 5 minutes of steaming, Chic's Herrera is runway ready. No, really. A tip: Once it heats up, give it about 10 seconds to spit out water before applying it to your frock. A ce soir!
