The Daily Predicts...Who Will Be Nominated for the 2010 CFDA Fashion Awards?

(NEW YORK) On Wednesday night, the fashion world will assemble to learn the nominees for the 2010 CFDA Fashion Awards. But why wait? Daily tradition dictates that we provide at least a few spoilers. Behold our highly scientific picks. ASHLEY BAKER & VALENTINE UHOVSKI

Swarovski Award for Womenswear: Prabal Gurung, Altuzarra, and Jason Wu. We're starting with this category because it's essentially in the bag; these three mavericks are often spoken in the same sentence as the hottest, newest, latest things in American fashion. But let's not forget Sophie Theallet, who won the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Award last fall.

Swarovski Award for Menswear: Patrick Ervell, Billy Reid, Simon Spurr. Ervell is another CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund vet, but relative newbies (and press darlings) Reid and Spurr are equally deserving in this category. Another option: Robert Geller. If we're off, Jim Moore, just call us.

Swarovski Award for Accessory Design: Monique Pean, Alejandro Ingelmo, George Esquivel. Pean is a shoo-in (another CFDA/Vogue-er), ditto on cobblers extraordinaire Ingelmo and Esquivel. But remember: it went to bauble designer Justin Giunta last year, so expect the other accessory categories to get a little love.

Womenswear Designer of the Year: Marc Jacobs, Rodarte, and...Surprise us! Donna Karan deserves a nod--she's had two great collections in a row, not to mention that she's celebrating the 25th anniversary of her brand. Narciso Rodriguez and Proenza Schouler could potentially earn nominations here as well.

Menswear Designer of the Year: Italo Zucchelli, Thom Browne, Michael Bastian. Another easy one. Zucchelli's on a roll, Browne's runway shows rival Paris' best, and Bastian's collection just gets better and better. Three-way tie, please!

Accessory Designer of the Year: Marc Jacobs, Vera Wang, Tory Burch. No surprises here, but then again--is there ever in this category?

International Award: Rei Kawakubo or Stella McCartney. Easy money's on McCartney, but Comme is having a moment--especially at retail, we hear. Europeans have been honored the last several seasons, namely Dries van Noten and Louis Vuitton, so a shake-up is especially in order.

Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award: Donna Karan. It's about time.

Eugenia Shepperd Award: Stefano Tonchi. Granted, the T maestro and creative genius should be more of an Eleanor Lambert fellow, but the increasingly news-making mag and its website are propelling Tonchi to a new niveau.

Eleanor Lambert Award: Bill Cunningham. He's been the subject of a New Yorker profile, windows at Bergdorf Goodman, and a new documentary Bill Cunningham New York, which bows March 24. Even if he doesn't take this category, he will go home with something.

Fashion Icon Award: Charlize Theron. Dior collabs nonwithstanding, she's essentially the only one left making things consistently interesting on the red carpet. Bernard Arnault simply adores, and you know what that means.

Board of Directors' Special Tribute: Alexander McQueen.
